The Inside/Outside House
The owners of this full-time residence were familiar with Sisler Builders’ work because they have friends Sisler Builders built a house for a few years ago.
This couple wanted an energy-efficient, easily maintained house that made the most of the views of nearby Stowe Pinnacle, and that brought the outside inside. Sisler Builders recommended architect Ernie Ruskey, owner of Tektonika Studio Architects, to design the project. Ruskey’s proposal brings the exterior and interior living spaces together, and a geo-thermal radiant heating system heats the entire house using electricity from rooftop solar panels. Sisler Builders custom woodworkers built the cabinetry in the kitchen, mudroom, pantry, downstairs bar, and primary vanity. An outdoor room near the main entry has a fireplace, grilling area, and plenty of space to entertain, while the great room, which includes an impressive staircase to the lower level, takes full advantage of the views through what turned out to be the largest window panes Sisler Builders has ever installed. The lower level’s ceiling is soundproofed, so the must-have golf simulator isn’t heard upstairs. Construction of the 4,200-sq. ft. house started in 2021 and took 16 months to finish. Project manager Luke Sisler said the project went smoothly despite the unprecedented building obstacles they faced during the pandemic. The Sisler team was able to finish exactly one day sooner than expected, and the owners made dinner in their new kitchen a day early.
